This article provides instructions on how to do a password recovery.
- If you have forgotten your password, please visit signon.stjohns.edu and follow the instructions below to reset your password via Self-Service Password Recovery.
**If you know your password and are able to log in, but just want to change your password, please follow the steps found at: How Do I Change My Password?
Step 1: To recover your password, please click on the red "Forgot Password" button:
Step 2 A: A window will open up asking you to enter your email address.
** If you are a student please enter your email address in the @my.stjohns.edu format, all employees/faculty/affiliates will use the @stjohns.edu format.
Step 2 B: Choose to have a reset code sent to you via SMS or VoiceCall.
Step 3: Enter the verification code that is automatically sent to you, and click the VERIFY button.
Step 4: Enter the answer to the question that you chose when you first created your account.
***If you have forgotten the answer that you created, please call our service desk for further assistance. You will need to confirm your identity prior to being able to reset it.

Step 5: Enter a new password, it must meet the requirements:
- Minimum of 10 characters
- Minimum of 1 lowercase letter
- Minimum of 1 capital letter
- Minimum of 1 symbol
- Must not contain your first or last name, no parts of your username
- Must not repeat any of your last 5 passwords
- Must be at least 6 days since you last changed your password. **If this is the case and you do not remember what you recently changed your password to, please call our service desk.

Please note that once your password is changed, it may take up to 15 minutes to synchronize across other St. John's accounts that are not accessible through the Sign-On portal, such as Digital Libraries, Campus Computer login, VPN, SJUMobile on-campus Wi-Fi, etc.
Once you change your password, be sure to check to see if you have your old password saved in the following locations:
- Any device (such as a computer, tablet, or cell phone) with a password saved for logging in to the Sign-On Website or Digital Libraries website
- Any device (such as a computer, tablet, or cell phone) with a password saved for logging in to the SJUmobile On-Campus Wi-Fi
- Any device (such as a computer, tablet, or cell phone) with a password saved for logging in to the Outlook app (or another mail application) to access email
- SJU Computer set up to log in to VPN
If after trying these steps, you are still unable to log in, please call our Service Desk, and press option 2. We can reset your password, after verifying your identity.
