Overview:

Web based Reporting Tool Formerly known as Brio and Hyperion

Interactive Reporting is an extremely robust and powerful business intelligence tool from Oracle.  The product was first developed by a company called Brio who later was taken over by Hyperion and then finally taken over by Oracle. IR is made up of 2 major components:

  1. Interactive Reporting Studio (full software installation) is the developer tool installed directly on the developer’s computer.  With Studio you can build new queries, reports, chart, pivots, and dashboards.  Capable of creating BQY’s.

  2. EPM Workspace (web version) - Can only be access using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 Browser or Mozilla Firefox 90, this product allows the user to run any of the BQY’s that have already been published (provided they have the access to them)

    Key Terminology:

BQY - Brio Query, is the extension given to all Interactive Reporting document files.

EPM Workspace - The EPM Workspace is a portal, where all Oracle Hyperion applications, reports, and other files can be accessed and integrated using a shared security model.

Published BQY’s - is a BQY that has been saved to the EPM environment and is reachable through the browser.

    Navigating the EPM Workspace:

To navigate EPM Workspace, a user account must be created (Banner/SDA) and provisioned with the necessary privileges to the Workspace and the Interactive Reporting components. After the user account is created, users would then be granted the specific access to the Workspace that was requested.

This is the URL to get to the EPM/Hyperion/Brio default login page for the EPM Workspace in version 11 is:

    http://epm.stjohns.edu

    Browser settings and troubleshooting:

NOTE: EPM workspace only works on Firefox Version 90 (download if not already installed on your computer) or Internet Explorer 11(exists on all Windows 10 devices).
