On an SJU-issued laptop, serial numbers can be found on the bottom of the laptop. This is usually on a manufacturer sticker or written on the base plate itself in small letters.




MacBook
On a MacBook, on the bottom of the laptop it can be found at the top written in small letters:




If the machine is able to turn on and log in

  • Click on the Apple Symbol in the upper left corner of the screen.
  • Then, click "About This Mac".
  • Serial number is located on the bottom of the system info



Windows


  • On a Lenovo model, there are various types of stickers that can be found. 







If the computer can boot up and be logged into, please run the following: 


  • Press the Windows key and the letter x at the same time. This will bring up a menu.
  • Click on "Windows PowerShell (Admin)


  • Type the following:  wmic bios get serialnumber
  • Press enter. Model Type, and Serial number will be displayed.
